How we got here

The founding insight: people learn by hearing, not skimming.

In 2021, Mantas Aleks was working as a product manager at a B2B software company in Denver. One task that kept surfacing: figuring out why new hires and customers alike struggled to retain information from onboarding — even when the docs were thorough and the walkthroughs were well-structured. The completion data told one story. The support tickets in weeks two and three told another.

The specific observation: people absorbed information from 15-minute voice explanations better than from 40-page PDFs. Not because voice was magic — because voice is paced, contextual, and replayable in the moment of need. Written guides require the reader to bring their own attention. Voice meets them where they are.

Cor started as a browser-based voice recording tool — no flow logic, no analytics. HR and CS teams used it as a simple replacement for "we'll hop on a call." Over two years, the product grew into a full onboarding flow platform with completion tracking, quiz checkpoints, and HRIS integrations. The team stayed small and Denver-based. We're not the LMS in your stack — we're the layer between your knowledge and the person who needs it.

Guide, don't overwhelm

The job of onboarding is to reduce cognitive load, not add to it. Every feature we ship is tested against one question: does this make the guided experience simpler or more complicated?

Async by default

Live walkthroughs don't scale. The best onboarding happens when the person being guided can go at their own pace, replay what they missed, and reference it later. We build for that.

Completion is the measure

A beautiful onboarding flow that 40% of people never finish is worse than a plain one that 90% complete. We measure our own success by whether the people using Cor actually finish their flows.
